Rest your fingertip lightly over the rear camera lens. The app reads the tiny colour changes in your fingertip with each pulse (photoplethysmography) to estimate beats per minute. Smartphone fingertip PPG tracks ECG heart rate closely in validation studies — but this is a fitness signal, not a medical monitor.
Sit still and relaxed for a minute first, then measure. Lower resting heart rate broadly reflects better conditioning.
No camera access, or prefer to count? Take your pulse at the wrist or neck for 15 seconds, count the beats, and enter it — the app multiplies by four. Or type a reading from a chest strap or watch.
