Getting tested is the single most powerful move an undiagnosed exhausted man can make — and it is not admitting weakness. A questionnaire can only signal risk; a sleep study is what actually measures your breathing. Here is the path, step by step.
This page helps you organize and act — it does not diagnose any condition and never changes a prescribed treatment or CPAP pressure. If a red flag appears (drowsy driving, witnessed pauses, chest pain), seek medical attention.
What the study measures. An in-lab polysomnography records brain activity, breathing, oxygen, heart rate and movement overnight; a home test focuses on breathing and oxygen with an adequate device. Either gives your apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) — the number that defines severity and guides treatment.
