Sleep-Breathing Concern Check

An original Body Plus Fitness reflection tool. It does one thing: help you decide how strongly to raise your sleep-breathing with a clinician. It is not a diagnostic questionnaire and it does not diagnose anything — only a sleep study can do that.

🚨 If any of these are true, act now

Falling asleep while driving or a near-miss from drowsiness; a partner has seen you stop breathing repeatedly, or you wake gasping or choking; high blood pressure that is not controlled despite medication; chest pain, fainting, or an irregular heartbeat. These warrant prompt medical attention, not a check-in tool.

About this tool. This is an educational concern check built by BPF from the recognized warning signs of sleep-disordered breathing. It is not the STOP-Bang questionnaire, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale, or any other validated diagnostic instrument. Your clinician may choose to use validated tools such as STOP-Bang or the Epworth Sleepiness Scale as part of a proper evaluation. Bring your reflections here to that conversation.

Part 1 · Night-time breathing signs

The signs a partner or your own waking often notice first. Flip the switch for each that is true.

Part 2 · How you feel by day

Unrefreshing sleep and daytime sleepiness are the cost you actually feel.

Part 3 · Things that raise the odds

Context that makes sleep-disordered breathing more likely.

The BPF Sleep-Breathing Concern Check is educational and original to Body Plus Fitness. It is not a validated diagnostic questionnaire and is not a diagnosis. A higher concern level means you should raise this with a clinician; a lower level does not rule out a problem. Diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea requires a sleep study (in-lab polysomnography or an adequate home sleep apnea test) ordered by a clinician. © 2026 Ken Hoyer / Body Plus Fitness.
