BPF Resistance Band Authority · Equipment Guide

Which bands
should I buy?

Buy for the workout you actually want to do—not for the biggest bundle. BPF uses four core band families: handled tubes, long loops, flat bands and mini loops. This guide shows the simplest starter, home, travel, muscle-building and latex-free options that fit the BPF Resistance Band Authority system.

Safety first

Inspect the band. Verify the anchor. Control the release.

BPF equipment preflight

  • Inspect bands for cuts, nicks, tears, cracks, thinning, damaged seams or suspicious weak spots before training.
  • Check handles, clips, connectors and anchors before loading them.
  • Keep the recoil path away from the face, eyes, other people, pets and breakable objects.
  • Do not intentionally exceed the manufacturer’s stated stretch limit.
  • For a door anchor, use a suitable purpose-built anchor, keep the door fully closed and latched, and use a configuration where resistance cannot pull the door open.
  • Release band tension under control. If equipment looks or feels unsafe, do not use it.

Older SPRI Ultra Heavy recall check

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled specific older SPRI Ultra Heavy resistance bands—model 02-71669 with identified 2018 production codes—because the band could separate from the handle. This does not mean the current Xertube listings on this page are recalled. If you already own older SPRI Ultra Heavy equipment, check it before use. View the CPSC recall notice.

How BPF chooses resistance

BPF does not treat band color or advertised poundage as a universal weight. Delivered resistance changes with the band, starting length, stretch, geometry and setup. Start with clean technique and range, then progress reps/time and target effort before moving to a harder band or more demanding setup.
