Drowsy Driving Safety

This is the one page in the program that is a hard stop. Falling asleep at the wheel is a safety emergency — for you and for everyone else on the road. Untreated sleep apnea and severe sleep debt both raise this risk sharply.

🚨 Stop driving and get help if you have

Dozed off or “micro-slept” while driving; drifted lanes or missed an exit from drowsiness; had a near-miss because you were tired; or you feel you cannot trust yourself to stay awake at the wheel. Do not drive drowsy. Arrange another way home and seek medical evaluation promptly.

Warning signs while driving

Heavy eyelids or repeated yawning; trouble keeping your head up; drifting, tailgating, or missing signs and exits; not remembering the last few miles; rolling down the window or cranking music just to stay awake. These are not quirks — they are signs your brain is trying to sleep.

The only real fixes are stopping to sleep and treating the cause; coffee and open windows are not enough
Do not drive again until you are genuinely rested
If you have signs of sleep apnea, treating it is part of driving safely — get evaluated
